As if it has always been waiting for her. Rumija, the southernmost mountain with one of the most magnificant viewpoints is now a personal trainer of a brave girl from Bar, Carolina Ilich. New times and new occupations, even for the mountain. And it adjusts. It wants to be a part of one great story about conquering mountain tops.
So large to have an appearance of a sea, so different that it might be called unique and so beautiful that eyes can’t get enough of it! Skadar Lake always calms me down, fills me with positive energy and reminds me that I don’t need to die to be in a heavenly place…
Once upon a time there was a tribe called Paštrovići, living on the most beautiful place on Earth. Even Sun couldn’t wait to see the beauty of the place every morning. It would appeared early, giving people possibility to enjoy this beauty in its full glow and set as late as it could, sad for leaving, but with the promise of a new day and another joyful sight. But, Paštrovići couldn’t enjoy it just like that; there was a price they had to pay. Everyone wanted this small piece of paradise for themselves. Mighty armies came from distant countries, threatening to disturb a peaceful life of local people.
Somebody asked me recently which place is my favorite in Montenegro. I just couldn’t decide. It is not because I love my country so much that I can’t see it objectively any more. It is because nature was so generous to the country, that I feel so blessed to have a privilege to live here. As one of my tourist said, there is no bad place for a photo in Montenegro! You will always have a perfect background where ever you place you camera. This is true. I still picked out for you some places you shouldn’t miss during your stay in Montenegro. They are my favorite places.
To be clear – any time is good time to come to Montenegro. But, there are some more or less ideal periods for you to come, depending on your personal interests. Basically, our tourist offer is based on summer and winter season, since Montenegro has both high mountains and beautiful warm Adriatic Sea. One unusual phenomenon is present in the country from time to time: possibility to ski and swim in the same day. Don’t expect to have this regularly and plan your trip accordingly, since it all depends from weather conditions which can differ from one year to the other. All of this is possible since mountains are so close to the sea that one can start day by swimming on the coast and spend the rest of it by skiing in the first ski center, only 2 and half hours drive away from the coast.
I live in Montenegro. Yes, you read well – Montenegro. No, it is not in Africa and it has nothing to do with black people. Montenegro is international name for European country and means Black Mountain in translation. You would expect to see here Black Mountain but…no, you can’t. What you can see are remains of dark green pine forest which used to adorn Mountain Lovcen in 15 century and which seemed so dark (almost black) from distance that confused Venetians called it Montenegro. But what one can find here are black squirrels around Black Lake in the black pine forest in this Black Mountain country. And black wine too. No, this is not a mistake. Exquisite Montenegrin red wine called Vranac has dark ruby color, almost black. If you call it red wine, Montenegrins will correct you. There is not something like red wine in the country of Black Mountains.
